Ty, where did you receive the information that the Blues wanted that? If accurate, that is insane. Pasternak and two firsts? It's shattenkirk, not bourque.

They wanted both firsts, and then when Sweeney was pressed as to why that wasn't enough, he said, "I'm not trading Pastrnak." So, it was a not-so-subtle way of outing the price.

The Don made a statement saying someone wanted Pasta and that he's not willing to move him. Google it, his quote is all over the place. I don't know if I'm in the minority on this, but I'm of the belief that Shats is extremely over rated. He's a decent, to above average player, but he's not what they make him out to be.

I agree in the sense that he's a guy I'd move something like a 14th pick/Griffith/Zboril combination for, but that's the line for me. So much of that comes back to the asking price versus the reality of the situation that he's signed for just one more season and that you can't take the risk he walks for nothing.

Thanks. Well I guess things could have been worse yesterday. Still don't like the Frederick pick, but better than losing pasta for shattenkirk ( and not drafting in the first round)

I agree, while shattenkirk is young and above average, I think he still needs to develop more responsibility in his own end. They're looking for a package that would be exoensive for a pietrangelo or weber...

"So now the focus, for Sweeney and the Bruins, moves towards finding that guy via free agency." 'That guy' doesn't doesn't remotely exist in free agency.

Jason Demers would be a fine addition.

"We'd like to announce the signing of the defenceman we've been searching for...we've signed UFA Matt Bartkowski to a 4 year $20 million bargain of a deal, with a Peter Chiarelli inspired no-movement clause".

No, seriously...good on Sweeney not to pay that ridiculous asking price for Shattenkirk. I'm likely in the minority that thinks Shattenkirk is highly overrated and on a good blueline would be a strong #3. Not a guy I'd be giving up anything more that a late 1st rounder, a 3RD rounder and a high B prospect for.

Play the damn kids and let Cassidy continue to work with them before Julien destroys all their remaining confidence.

I would have liked to see him here, but I think hes quite overrated, I wouldnt pay anywhere near the price they wanted nor would I pay him the 7 million per hes probably gonna be asking for. Hes not a difference maker, let Colin play.

He is human, we forget that about many of our "legends" it seems...........a special human at that, but human.

All of us have faults.......as no man is perfect. I just hope he isn't lost and can figure this out for himself.

One of my favorite people in life as I grew up idolizing him.

Don't get the Frederich pick?
It's embarrassing to take a guy ranked something like 47th in North American rankings with a 29th pick! Don has taken a lot of flack as a GM, but this selection is just too much. If he wants to jump off the board and take a flyer on a guy projected to go in the 3rd round why not trade his pick down and collect a secondary asset?
I just don't get it. Is Don just incapable of negotiating any deals with other clubs? Lots of questions!! I'm scared Don is flying by the seat of his pants. Seems to beat to his own drum. I'm just praying he knows what he is doing.
Anaheim grabbed a pretty good player in Sam Steel right after Frederich as well many other good players. It will be interesting to see how these players progress over the next several years.
